got in Shanghai today.tiring.. waited my mom in the airport for about 3hours. a bit gloomy in the city, i mean the weather, but from what i can see from the fog, Shanghai is AWESOME, as Colleen would say.
love the architecture. having a very good basis of culture, it makes the city very nice being a cosmopolitan. would love to see the city in the daylight and see how it is. as Micah had predicted, i like the city.
there's a very cute story of a stone carved of dragons in the city's highway. said when they tried to build the highway, they could not get a good basis, so they found a good monk and he said that they were digging into the dragon's back.. two days after the monk said it, he died. interesting.
had a meal in a restaurant for oysters. love them. lol.
bad time to come to shanghai though. coz they're building architecture on the bund. ruin the view..
bought postcards.

another satisfactory and tiring day.
went to get into a touring group today at somewhere not too interesting, but somehow the M50, which i called the 798 in Shanghai, is in the area and we went there. not too developed as a art district yet but i think it will be one in the future.
went to Pudong, love the modern architectures with the European-style ones together. went to the Super Brand Mall. bought a Matthew Williamson for H&M, love it.
very cosmo, love the city.
food is good.
going to Nanjing tomorrow.
watching Wimbledon right now. in order to 'Texan-annoy' Micah, i thought, 'you have to admire a Texan sometimes', lol

went to Nanjing, not too good an impression, was with a group. bad group members. for a day, not too exciting tourists' sites.
anyways, still tiring.

back in SZ. in general, i love Shanghai. went to Xin Tian Di on the 25th and totally fell in love with it. met Jack. and there was a I.T flagship store there. desire..

when i arrived in Qingdao, i was pretty tired. for it was a 6 hours train journey and staying up very late last night .
the first impression was, why this city can be so poor and old.
and arriving at the Old Observatory Youth Hostel. kinda hard to find. and was kinda disappointed, maybe it was because the Railway Square YHA in Sydney was so good. anyway, but the service and atmosphere was still good. and clean.
got showered and went out. in flip-flops, lol. the city was very leisure, and the old part of the city was so poorly-organized. but anyway, after i was at the seaside though, i like it. it's impressing. love it. and found that the nex part of the city is good. and the city was also very tourism-oriented.
and i love the fact that most of the places of interests are within walking distance, love it.
that's basically the fist impression of Qingdao of mine.
now i'm in the hostel, waiting to buy postcards and have some beer.
rite, the city is filled with the smell of seafood and beer houses.

just finished writing those postcards and it's already 3 in the morning. amazing.
anyways, try to keep the day's review short.
went to several beaches today with Jenny. she arrived today. one of the beaches, called 2nd Bathing Beach, the sand there is really smooth. love it.
Ba Da Gwan. don't like it as mch. maybe i wished for more. still there're lots of trees and some of them, nice architecture.
again the night view is good.
went to a stupid "aquarium"
had beer and barbecues, nice ones.
want to meet some friends here in the hostel, not yet accomplished
like the city, but too leisure.
right, jenny commented that we dressed too tourist-like. that's because we dress trendier and chicer than the local ppl so it's easy to know we're not from here. it's wonderful coz almost everyone gave us "salutions with eyes". one of them, met in the McDonald's, he was almost dumb-shocked when he saw us, esp. me, and stop right in his track and looked surprised and just stared at me. i saw from the mirror that he still stared at me behind me. that was ridiculous and hilarious. and another very macho-looking man just commented loudly so that i could hear, that i had my nails polished black. that was also funny. just not a trendy-enough city .
and found brands got different clothing for different city, even between Qingdao and Beijng.

dreamt of him last night. MDC. (lol, it looks like a brand's name.) anyway, i dreamt that we were in a gathering of the university classmates and he was sittiing right next to me and i was facing him all the time that i was embarrassing myself. and then suddenly we were in a culinary competition, which consisted teams that were formed from chefs from different countries. guess what, i was in the same team as he is, with another girl. and we won. all right, i'm just going cuckoo.
and another highlight was that one of MDC's friends recorded when she was going to the gathering and she recorded me. of course i wasn't aware of that, but she added comments in the video and she posted it on Youtube. i was dressing very weirdly chic that day and she commented how happy my outfit look. it was a compliment. i was so flattered.
i'm a narcissist. thanks.

went to the beach today, very nice beach, even though the sands are not that smooth and it made my feet hurt. but we had fun on the beach taking fotos. it's so fun. some very good/editorial pics.
also went to the newer side of the city and found that this city is not that fabulous in the senses of other than tourism. but generally nice.
and there's a funny fact that Jenny and I found. all the mirrors, even the glasses of the malls are deceiving. well we think they're deceiving because we think it makes us look thinner. either it's deceiving or we really did got thinner, but we've eaten a lot so we're not thinner. well, so finally found one that's not deceiving today. so it prove the point that every other mirrors and glasses are deceiving. this fact is so hilarious coz most of the ppl here are big. and we think the mirrors are glasses are responsible for it. anyways, we are definitely thin compared to the ppl here.
tiring day. 01/04/2009 ..watched REDUX last night, didn't like it as much as the original one, don't know where it was different. but changed from 8 to 9.

读安妮的书,她在里面说到孤独. 孤独是在你需要别人的时候,你遍寻不着,不需要别人的时候,你自给自足. 看着就觉得把忽略了好久的寂寞提到了眼前.心里难受. 远方坐着个看着电子杂志的难得.我一直在盯着他.记得有友人跟我说,如果你一直盯着一个人他会有知觉.以为是真的.结果那男的一直没有发现我的存在.又或许一直忽略我的存在.不管怎样.觉得更加的寂寞. 还是一个人.忽然觉得星巴克不仅是个贩卖咖啡与食物的地方.它既贩卖聊天场所,也贩卖孤独.我突然就这样觉得异常孤独. 身边有人,可是并没有人能给予温暖,而星巴克也不贩卖温暖. 安妮的书读了很多遍.在这一刻突然读不进去,心里难受.也写不出来东西.想起以前的写东西再抄一遍.觉得好不可思议.已经好久没有很正经的写过东西了. 一个留着胡须扎的男子.敲击键盘.戴着写着UC BERKELEY的帽子.左手的指甲全都涂黑.左手拇指中指以及右手食指都带着戒指.神情落寞.他不断的在看周围的人.眼睛在一两个男子处停留,又回到他的电脑.读书.一本白色封面很干净的书.放在他旁边还有两本本子.他有用一本写字.用的是白色的麻笔袋.用自动铅笔写字.黑色的橡皮.喝的是焦糖星冰乐.喝得很快.打字的时候不断的停顿.打字很轻.不断的叹气.眼光迷离.经常入神的想东西.橄榄色裤子.相配的鞋子.一双黑框眼镜. 他好像在等人. 突然很期待今晚的八点半.今天是地球日.两年前的今天八点半我在宿舍轻轻地把灯关上,那年还很少人知道有这个活动.那年我看着网站上的特拉维夫就很兴奋.毅然地把灯关上. 今天,中国人民终于得知这个消息.还有不到一小时.很期待. 结束.无语.失望.挫败.宿舍没有关.也没有办法劝.但还好有一些宿舍很自觉的关了.心里还好. |
